Chinese Drywall became an issue for
America in 2001as a direct result of the demand for building materials needed for the rapid growth of development
experienced in many parts of the Country. Additionally, demand increased in the South East following the devastation
of the multiple hurricanes. It is estimated that there are approximately 200,000 homes affected nationally and
of those, 73% are located Florida.
The defective drywall emits the gas,
sulfur dioxide, which corrodes copper wiring in electric appliances, copper pipes, cell phones, computers, etc.,
as well as parts of the HVAC systems.
